The drought is over
As some of you know, I have a fondness for the breakfast cereal Shreddies, which for reasons unknown is not available in the United States. Over the years since I've lived in the US I've imported a few boxes every time I've gone back to the mother country, and my good friends Andrew, Andrew, Debra and Chris have facilitated my need for the good, good whole wheat Shreddies.

Today my problems are over, at least for the near future. My loving mother sent me a case of 24 725g boxes today. Check out the pictures:

I now have a Shreddies closet:

My life just got 18% better.

Frankenberry Stool
Franken Berry was very popular when first introduced possibly because the initial batches of the cereal used a dye that didn't break down in the body, causing many children's feces to be bright pink, a symptom sometimes referred to as "Frankenberry Stool".

calculations
Deb,

Let's do a calculation:

According to the box a serving size is 1 cup = 50g. I don't have a scale, but I measured my bowl this morning at about 1.6 cups = 80g.

I don't eat cereal on the weekends typically (though I did today because it was my first day with the Shreddies) so that's about 260 weekdays in a year.

260 days * 80g /day = 20800g

The case I received had 24 725g boxes = 17400g

I get 3 weeks vacation, plus 10 statutory holidays that let's say I don't eat cereal on. Also assume that I travel on business for 15 days a year (I traveled that much in June, but that's an exceptional month) and I get breakfast somewhere else 5 weekdays a year and that leaves

260 - (3*5 + 10 + 15 + 5) = 215 days * 80g / day = 17200g

So, yes, I think it will last a year.

As an aside, the reason that this is possible is that Shreddies are so dense. A bowl of Rice Krispies is going to be no where near 80g, and therefore I'd need two to fill me up. This is one of the reasons Shreddies is so superior.

Eats, Shoots & Leaves
"... Shreddies *is* so superior" vs "... Shreddies *are* so superior".

Discuss.
